Keuka College’s Dr. David Felten will be the guest speaker at a presentation at the Northeast College of Health Sciences, one of the College’s partners, on Tuesday, May 24.
Dr. Felten, the College’s first Distinguished Scholar in Residence, will discuss “Neural Communication with the Immune System: Moving a New Field Forward When You Don’t Know Where It’s Going” from noon-2 p.m. in the Delavan Theater of the Northeast College of Health Sciences, 2360 Route 89 in Seneca Falls. The presentation will also be offered virtually via GoToMeeting. In addition, two clinical in-service credits will be offered.
The author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in research, medicine, and business, most on links between the nervous system and immune system, Dr. Felten has delivered 100 major addresses and presentations at national and international symposia and scientific meetings, including many prestigious lectureships.
Dr. Felten received a B.S. from MIT, and an M.D. and Ph.D. in anatomy/neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. For his pioneering findings in neural-immune interactions, he received the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellowship and has twice been nominated for a Lasker Prize, given for major contributions to medical science or public service on behalf of medicine. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS), headquartered in New York City.
